The Making of Minded

Minded Coaching was born out of the unique work of culture building in two beloved restaurants. I started thinking about better hiring practices and staff retention after opening our second restaurant here in Staunton, VA. We wanted to smash the turnover stereotype for restaurant workers by providing a fun, safe, sustainable, and engaging work place.

I’ve been the Director of Operations for the green room since 2021 and Remedy Burger since we opened in 2022. With the owners’ vision in mind, we steadily built a collaborative work place culture with a near 90% staff retention rate. I am so lucky to have such an incredible staff who wants to learn, loves to serve, and knows that it feels good to make others feel good. We show up for each other and for our guests.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you.

Meet your Coach

I’m Adrienne. I’ll be your coach through your minded journey. I am a manager, a mom, a collaborator, a wife, a constant reader, a daughter, an entrepreneur, a sister, a hiker, a friend, and a creator. I will show up for you and teach you how to show up for yourself.

I started coaching fifteen years ago, I just didn’t call it that. I received both of my masters degrees in arts management and became a union Stage Manager and Production Manager. I’ve worked with creatives all around the country producing plays for hundreds of audiences. Stage managing actors, directors, and designers fortified my belief that collaborative work environments produce the most successful outcomes. Our shows were better, our artists were healthier, our lives were fuller when we all pulled the yoke in the same direction.

I’ve also worked in restaurants since I was a kid, first becoming a manger in the industry twelve years ago. After being promoted, no one showed me how to lead my team, I was just expected to hold others accountable, with no training. I recognized quickly that effective leadership involves understanding and managing the expectations placed on both myself and my team. It was essential to create environments where everyone felt supported, valued, and understood. I wanted to empower my teams to take ownership of their responsibilities, while still being present to guide and support them. This way, we cultivated a culture of collaboration and innovation, where expectations were met not through pressure but through encouragement, rising to challenges, and shared vision.

Ultimately, I wanted to lead by example, demonstrating that balance is not just about achieving results, but about nurturing relationships and building a community where everyone could thrive. By being a minded leader, I create positive and productive atmospheres for our customers and our staff.
